I have had a couple of interesting e-mails from folk recently, asking tennis type questions…

First – How come Rafa Nadal won the French Open but never received the 2000 points you get for winning?

Answer – Because the ATP points system is that you defend the points you received from the previous years events.
So Rafa didnt get any points because he won it last year(actually won it the last 7 years!).

Now if he had lost in the final, then he would have got 1000 points, and so LOST 1000 points off his ranking.

The same for Novak this coming Wimbledon, he is defending champion, so once again he is defending the 2000 points….easy system eh!

 

Question – What are the rules of tennis and what is the scoring system?
