Some thoughts on Serena's injury...
I am so surprised by all the negative comments towards Serena. Serena seldom uses gamemanship in a match. In fact, both Venus and her are the most ethical players on the tour. They might come from the gutter, but I think that background made them more determine to show the world that they can be classy on the court. Yes, she said the F word, but so what? If that's what gets her fire going, by all means say it. Also, they never fake injury during matches. People who said otherwise have not followed their career, and just said so because they are blacks, and minority. I will give it to you that Serena is a attention grabber, but on the court, she and Venus sweated out like everyone else.
Actually the physiotherapists can take as long need to diagnose the injury, then its 3 minutes of treatment on court! So i think you will find she was well within her rights to be on the ground for 9 minutes. Anyone who see the game live cannot possibly think this was put on, the girl was in pain. As many as you would have had cramp before you will know that it is extremley painful, but also the effects do not last that long so i would think a 2 hour break would be long enough to recover. As for the toilet break, yes she probably was busting but then when your 4-2 up and on a roll im sure you can hold it, dont say you wouldn't or havent done the same thing in the past. If she was a player that was known for faking injuries then i would understand and maybe if she was losing, but she is/was neither, I really cannot understand where this idea has come from. It is complete nonsense!
So Williams is "brave" is she?
The Rules of Tennis clearly state that any break for essential medical treatment (and does that treatment truly include hitting a leg with a tennis raquet or putting bags of ice on a limb?) is limited to 3 minutes. Williams was on the ground for more than 9 minutes! And what exactly happened to that "I need a bathroom break"? But not on my service! And the urge must have gone by the time she won as she still had time to sign autographs before "limping" off!
Williams (and her father) should be disqualified for unprofessional conduct.
