Rock, Salt & Nails, who are regarded as Shetland's most successful export in recent years, have released 'Volley Highway' - a number that has a touch of Runrig and The Waterboys, with lyrics designed to inspire Britain's sole representative in the men's draw.

Lead singer Paul Johnston said: "We did it because we think he sometimes suffers a bit from being seen as British.

As a result, Johnston hopes to perform the song at SW19. He told The Scotsman: "It's meant to be fun. We are not claiming it's Rabbie Burns, but in Homecoming year, the boy's doing good and it's easy to knock folk.

"He's quite serious and sometimes comes across as very focused, but you can't be No.3 in the world if you are not focused."

The song, available for download on itunes, has had a varied response. One fan on MurrayWorld wrote: "Oh my, does Andy know about this..."

Listen to it - its fun!
