I recently found an article on the Daily Telegraph web site, where one of its correspondants Pamela Goodman, took her family to the Saddlebrook Tennis Centre in Florida.
The article goes on to talk about the benefits of a tennis holiday in the USA,number of courts, group size, level and mentality of coaching(mentality?) compared to a tennis holiday in Europe.
But what I really want to comment on is what Pamela Goodman says when she asks her "brilliantly talented, youthful coach" if he thought her tennis had improved over the coaching period.
Reply was "Well Pam your certainly a very athletic woman"
Well me not youthful, but brilliantly talented would not give a pupil such a daft reply after 25+ hours of coaching - maybe more in the lines of "you need to work harder on those key points on the groundstrokes and I would expect you to practice that service, which being an athletic woman will be a big part of your game"
Next time Pam, come to Tenerife - I bet he never videod you, or maybe he did and didn't tell but kept the tape in his "athletic woman" draw.
Ps - the holiday cost about 8,000 pounds for 5 people!
