My nephew Jon sent me this photo today of the grave of my great uncle Frank, who was killed in the 1st World War near Ypres in Belgium.
Frank was 18 years of age when he died, we think, in one of the first mustard gas attacks.WRONG - I have since ben told by nephew Jon, that mustard gas was not used until the March of that year, and he was killed in the February, so probably the cause of death was either by sniper fire or shrapnel. 95 years ago, here's to you Frank and the thousands like you who gave their lives for us today.
