Click on the photo to zoom. This is a photo taken during a doubles match from Indian Wells. We all know that the players on Planet tennis are off the ground when they hit their massive serves, but take a look from the back at the fastest serve on the circuit at the moment. Look in the first pic the position of the racket, what they call the deep throwing position - and the body is still moving upwards. Picture 2 and the elbow contnues to move upwards, as does the body. Picture three the contact and the movement is still going up.
The first photo shows the pronation of the racket taking it acroos the ball - he is still in the air. Second photo shows the inverted follow through - still in the air. And the final photo shows his front foot -left-touching down just inside the court. The great Pete Sampras would have landed furthur into the court than this, so maybe if A Rod did the same, what a serve and volleyer he could become - given that he improved his volley as well.
