World number two Rafael Nadal expects to be fit for next week's Australian Open despite pulling out of a warm-up event in Sydney with a groin injury. The Spaniard trailed Chris Guccione 6-5 in the first set of their first-round match at the Sydney International when he decided he could not continue.
"I will have some treatment on it Wednesday and will hope to be 100% fit for next week," said Nadal.
"I'm going to play for sure. I hope in two more days I will be 100%."
The 20-year-old missed last year's Australian Open with a foot injury.
